I just bought an external 300GB harddrive, and I want to partition it into at least 4-5 different drives. Is there an easy way to do this through Windows XP? I'm very computer literate, but having never done this before, I want to know if I can or not.

Start -> Control panel -> Adminstrative Tools -> Computer Management

If the drive isn't formatted, format it here and select your partitions. If it isn't, delete the partitions that are on there, set them, and format.

For me the most easy in use way is to donwload partitioning software called disk director.
Using DD u can resize/split/merge partitions and it has recovery expert wizard (recovers accidently deleted files).
so i think u would need that

yeah if the drive is new the best way to partition it is to use disk management utility.
