I went to UC Berkeley. Getting in as a freshman is really hard, as the competition is pretty tough!

You might want to consider doing your freshman and sophomore college units at a junior college then transferring in to UCB as a junior. That's what I did. Trust me, after you graduate it won't matter, as your employer and colleagues will only see that you have a diploma from UC Berkeley, they won't know you did Jr/Sr years only instead of all 4 there.

Take harder classes in school now, so that you can start getting used to doing rigorous, hard work. Then in jr. college be sure to take courses that are transferrable to UC Berkeley (you'd have to check with the college counselor to make sure), then be sure to study hard and do all your homework and get as good of grades as possible (like, close to straight A's!)..... this will help you immensely when you apply to UCB to transfer in as a junior.

Hope that helped a bit! Feel free to email me if you have more questions, as I'd be glad to help!

PS -- My parents never went to college either. I was the first person (and still the only person) in my family to ever go to college. You seem to have a very strong desire to go to college, so I want you to know that you CAN DO IT! You will make your family proud, and you will be doing something wonderful for yourself as well!

It relies upon. Does your college not furnish honors and AP instructions, or do you p.c. to not take those instructions? you may desire to attempt and a minimum of take some by way of fact a) they are able to coach you for rigorous coursework on the college point (no rely if or not that's a UC or not) and b) you're able to rack up some credit and shop some funds as quickly as enrolled in a school. in the experience that your college would not furnish you honors and AP instructions, then verify and write that down someplace on your individual assertion. Grades in basic terms bypass so a ways (whether I definitely have some friends who have been given into UC's fullyyt consistent with their grades; that they had very constrained extracurriculars). attempt and connect some golf equipment / extracurriculars so as which you would be able to fulfill some people, make extra friends, have exciting, and make the main out of your intense college adventure.

Are you a freshman in college or high school? I am assuming you are a high school freshman then.
If you are a freshman now, dont stress now! I didnt take any honor courses until my sophmore year (and I still get into UCB). But to get into Berkeley, you need to have a very high GPA, which means you may have to take some Ap classes in your junior and/or senior year. But dont overload yourself! You will know how it works once you are a junior in high school. Enjoy your freshman year in high school!
