I've got my grandmother's coat from the sixties. I love it. It's very unique looking and I get compliments on it whenever I wear it out. It's sort of a green-gray color, knee length, flares out at the waist. What's amazing is that it fits me perfectly, even though she was much, much thinner than I am. So what's the oldest article of clothing you own, and what's the story behind it?

Funny you should ask; I would just cleaning out my closet the other day and I discovered an old pair of shoddy leather pants that I believe may have been worn by the Australopithecus robustus species. Initial carbon dating has confirmed them to be around 1 million years old, which supports my hypothesis. How they wound up in my closet, however, I have no idea.

I'm writing a book about it actually. It's going to be called; "The 'Australopithecus robustus' Species Wore Pants, and Here's What They Looked Like."

Oh, and yes, they still fit me.

A dress I had made for me 9 years ago.... I saw a picture of Gwyneth Paltrow wearing it, and loved it. It is so simple it will never go out of style. It is a dark grayish blue color--really different but neutral. It resembles the "Galaxy" dress that is so popular right now although it has very thin spaghetti straps---but the tight straight below the knee look---that's the rest of it. Of course I still wear my Greatful Dead concert t-shirts but just to bed since they are full of holes from being worn to death!

I used outdated socks to stuff cleanable "mattresses" for the pets. I additionally use outdated socks to make draft-dodgers for the homestead windows (additionally cleanable) via only stuffing extra socks into the outdated socks and tying the ends. Any clothing we placed on out develop into rags that we use everywhere. clothing are are nevertheless in extraordinarily high-quality condition only pass to the Salvation military (because of the fact the Goodwill has gotten so choosy approximately what they're going to take and what they won't). i do no longer do various repurposing of our outdated stuff considering we've lots of it there isn't any longer room for repurposed stuff--extra powerful that we only supply it away as quickly as we are able to to make relatively much less muddle (and that i'm continually frightened approximately, if we'd desire to continually unexpectedly die, somebody else has to return in right here and choose what to do with all those products--some thing i'm no longer looking forward to having to do while our dad and mom pass away this earth).

An Academic All-Stars shirt I got in 2002 for having high test scores. It's falling apart though, so I usually only wear it as a pajama shirt.
