.... the approximate cost of having both front to rear brake pipes replaced?
I have a Hyundia Accent, just had it serviced today and was told it would need doing. Thought what they quoted seemed a bit excessive but don't really know what i should expect to pay.

How old is your car??? I've got a 1994 Honda Accord with 168,000 miles on it and it's only ever needed the section of brake pipe by the fuel tank replaced. I can't remember how much it cost, but to replace the entire brake pipe on your car would be V expensive (easily £200+) as it is a very labour intensive job.
I've also had a friend who was reccomended to have the lines replaced and they were just a bit corroded. Another garage said they were fine!
If you're happy scrabbling about under the car, have a look at the pipes yourself. It may just be a bit of surface corrosion that can be scraped off - at worst, like mine there might need to be a section replaced.

Best advice would be to try a different garage and ask them to have a look and see what they say.

If it just needs pipes i reckon you're looking at 3 hours labour at a maximum. Garages keep the pipes and most of the fittings on the premises, and they don't cost a lot I'd say about £50 for materials would be reasonable, unless they are odd fittings which they shouldn't be.

Up to £200 would be my guess.
