A friends husband constantly tell us lies. It's embarrassing, 'cos we know a lot of the stuff CAN'T be true, but still he continues. I don't want to embarrass his wife, though we have started challenging him. The lies are always to make it seem that he has better does better has ultimate jobs etc. Some of the lies are obviously outrageous this is why it's so awkward. I realise he must have esteem issues going on but how do we stop him?!
Do you lie compulsively, if so why?? And HOW can we bring him back to reality?????

There are lies and there are lies. One is told to gain an advantage r excuse or deny some behavior. While others are like "puffery", to make the item seem better than it is. Some people like to make believe that they are the person they think they are and wish people would play the game and nod there heads and say "oh really!"
I know a lot of couples who have husbands who strreeeeetch the truth about the smallest thing. We all wink-wink to ourselves behind his back and laugh and just let them tell there stories.
Sometimes we even say, "now come on" and they laugh too.

I use to lie a lot, but only to get myself out of trouble
this person is just bored and probably just wants attention
and someone to believe their lies

I never lie. and no that wasnt a lie. nope either was that one. wrong again, the sentence before this one was not a lie. <
