Everyone who has a child gets CHILD SUPPORT whatever age you are!! So technically EVERYONE is on benefits!
So teenage mothers get benefits? One 'mistake' (I dont see it as that but some do) and teenage mothers are the death of society? What about older people who are perfectly capable of working but just didnt TRY at school or cant be bothered. I think most teen mums actually feel the need to go out and provide for their children and feel terribly guilty about it. I know that with the exam results i got i can go on to open university and do the degree i was wanting to originally, before i got pregnant! So not all of us are layabouts who will spend our lives on the dole! I may be in the minority, but at least i can say I am one of the teen mums who will try in all aspects of life! I dont see my life as OVER now, I see it as DIFFERENT!

What is messed is someone would complain about a teen who is taking good care of their baby just because they were young when they had a child rather than complain about a 26 year old bum who does work and lives off walfare or someone who abused their kids or someone who got their kids taken away yet teens are put down first.
I could understand if a teen didnt take responsiblity, but those of them that do and still get complained at isnt right.

hey we all get surprises- i think what annoys people is when people continue to have surprises and have no way of paying there own way and have to rely heavily on the state!!- I had my first child at 26 and found the responsibility hard however I'd done my going out all night- and general "growing up" stuff by then!- I had another child a 31 and then my surprise arrived 18 months later- so you see we do all get them- I say surprise rather than mistake because far worse things can happen to you!

Sorry but the country is getting over populated with children who have been born from children, we do not need anymore of those thanks, we need people to start teaching their kids that they should be going out to work and earning a living and paying taxes then they will be able to get something back i.e maternity entitlement not just getting everything for free cos they ddn't plan properly. I have a son and a baby on the way and i work becuase i want the best for my kids, you might want the best for yours but letting someone else pay for it is not the right way, you will only be teaching your kids the wrong way of life!

i totaly agree with you about people complaining when teenage mums get benefits, i was 19 when i had my son so not as young as you but still got the criticising looks and comments! what these people dont realise is that they are not necessarily paying for you they are paying for the people that have 5 or 6 kids year after year and instead of getting a job they just have another kid. maybe the older generations should think about who paid for them when they had kids!
i just think that these people should leave teenage mums alone, as long as we are looking after our kids properly then what is the big deal?
when my son was 10months old i got a job and i have hated it ever since i began because i miss all the moments i should be spending with him, but i know that if i want him to have a better quality of life i have to work!
i hope that you finish school and go on to get a well paid job so your baby has everything that he/she needs, then in years to come you can complain about paying someones pension!!
good luck there are lots of rewarding happy times to come!

The country is acctually becoming over populated, and I don't think that kids should be having kids. And if you get pregnant I think that you should have to pay for your self. Most of my friends are under and about half have kids, and they ALL have jobs. The only thing that there's parent's help them with is babysitting. And most of there parent's let them live there, but it's your responsibility, and NO ONE elses.

Whereas I feel that you are dealing with the consequences of your actions in a well balanced way I am just wondering where you get the statement from 'our population NEED more children'...sorry hunny, don't wanna pick on you and applaud you for standing up for yourself, really I do, but I just don;t get that statement.

The same percentage of my paycheck goes to medicare/medicaid every two weeks. I never had it to begin with, so I don't complain. Better they use it to seek medical care than to go without. I will disagree that the population needs more kids.... there are quite alot of us (people in general) to begin with.
