You must connect speakers to the correct inputs. After that you have to connect the amp. to 12V DC, which is probably a car battery ( and get + to + and - to - )

I've done this myself and it's not too hard providing you have the wiring colour sheet that came with the stereo. I used a 12V DC transformer for mine and a pair of small 5watt speakers. Check the colours of wire against the sheet that came with your stereo:

Power:
Usually the thickest wires, Black is ground (GND), red is live (+V), there is another 'power' wire labelled auxillary or aux, ignore this.

Speakers, pick any two colours, these are on the second batch of wires coming off the back of the stereo (Set below power wires). I cannot recall the correct colours myself but it always goes something like this.
The solid colour connects to one terminal on the speaker, then the same colour, only with black or white dashes on it connects to the other terminal. Do not worry about phase reversal of the speakers if you're only testing the player.

The colours are all standard no matter what stereo you buy, so it shouldn't be too hard to get hold of the information. Hopefully this sets you off in the right direction, just be careful with it!
