I believe it (or part of it)is in Yorkshire,and that it was constructed in the early 19th century.Thomas Telford was involved in the latter stages of construction.

The Standedge Tunnel Experience is a great introduction to the Huddersfield Narrow Canal, a waterway of startling contrasts, from tranquil countryside to dramatic mills.
The canal reopened in 2001 following a 20 year restoration programme and is now listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the highest, longest, and deepest canal tunnel in the UK

there is one at Blisworth Nothants that is 3 miles long,on the grand union canal
