I'm interested in starting a boutique clothing business that focuses on a certain market. The problem is, I'm not sure where clothing stores get their inventory from. Can anyone tell me where I can find inventory?

I don't know a whole lot about it, but I was talking with a friend a while ago, and her dad owns a boutique, she was saying something about merchandise fairs that they have, where the shop owners go and the clothing companies set up, and the owner chooses what they would like to carry, and put their orders in. But she was also saying that some brands are very choosy, like you have to bring in a picture of your shop, and they decide whether or not they want their line being carried there.

big garage sales flea market Craigslist - local ads call on similar retailers and make them an offer they can;t refuse you will have to sell below normal wholesale prices (and take a loss) probably to move the stuff fast - but any losses will reduce your taxes - the sales & cost of goods sold would still be part of your business tax return

I thought designers who own the boutiques sell their own work.
