I've just coughed up some blood in some clear phlegm. It was just a little stringy bit of red in the phlegm, but I am a bit worried. I was out last night and have been smokling quite a bit recently, this is definitely a wake up call to stop smoking. Could this just be a result of my heavy night last night or could it be something a bit more serious?

Get to the doctor for a test. It is not a good sign to cough up blood.

I would go to the doctor- it could definately be something even though it is most likely probably due to some irritation to the esophagus after your heavy night of drinking and smoking. Better to get checked out though.

have you ever had a recent nosebleed or have you ever been coughing alot these days. this could be the rationalization for the blood. If no longer, i could recommend going to a physician asap because of the fact it would desire to be bronchitis, pneumonia, lung maximum cancers and an entire record of alternative issues. purely a physician might desire to tell you for advantageous. pass quickly, it sounds intense. God velocity.

Soo if you are coughing phlem up and its bleeding a little, its called broken membranes, yes they will bleed a little, But get ulcers and that all checked out, You will need an eyes throat and nose doctor, or your regular doctor will tell you

If the situation continues do get everything checked out - better be safe than sorry. Do continue with your resolution to quit smoking - it will be worth it. Good Luck.

You haven't provided enough info for anyone whose opinion is worth anything to give you an informed answer, so you should make an appointment to see a doctor as soon as you can.

it depends if you had a bloody nose or not last night, or some time before you caughed it up... if not then it is not normal and i would get to your doctor right away and talk to him.
