by "the paddle" ? the one our principle had, had holes in it.

NO - my generation is "No Touch" Period ... social services freaks when ppl are touched.
It was the other way around ... a kid in middle school used a chair and hit a teacher and she was comatised ... pulled out, but, ah, well, she didn't wanna come back.

I bet most that answer this are older people. I was made to hold out my hand for a simple infraction, I asked my friend for something as soon as the bell rang and the 65 year old teacher took her ruler and beat my hand until it was red. I was 8 in the 3rd grade and totaly humiliated I was a straight A student after that I really didn't care. In my freshman year in high school in the large cafeteria I threw a small piece of paper to get a guys attention to ask him an important question, it was a noisey lunchroom, when I took my tray to place and leave all of a sudden I was grabbed and lifted up against the wall by the band director and scared the piss out of me and it was because of that paper 5 minutes before. You could have heard a pen drop then, I was made to go pick up the paper as well my tray, and then report to the principle and I was given 3 days work after school, had to walk 3 miles home each day and scraped the gum from the bottom of the tables in other words did their dirty work for free. I am now 54 and still recall that. I drove by when in town once years back and I saw that retired band director in his yard. I got out and went up to him and I said I bet you don't remember me, do you, he said no. I reminded him how he assalted me for a simple thing and what he did if done now he be in jail, I said forget that but I am now 6-2, 200lbs, wanna try? He was about 5-9, he turned white as a ghost. I said you know I want to kick your ..so much, but I am more than a man than you little jerk will ever be and consider this your lucky day, you jerk and left as he stood there in fear, gee that fealt good but it goes to show you what these so called animals that become teachers are about. By the way, no teacher comments as I was married to one.

I did not, but my best friend got it so much he had permanent welts from the holes. One lady teacher swung that paddle as practice for her golf game onto bare bottoms.

OK i do not know what "the paddle" is but in primary school we did get the cane on the hand

My first grade teacher hit me, a friend, and another classmate on the arm with a ruler. I cried, not because the swatting hurt, but because she did it. I don't remember why though. O.o

Yes I did at least twice that I can remember. I'd like to hope now that this kind of barbarism no longer exists in schools.
