ok i will say it now...im not scared of little kids with sheets over thier heads.! im scared of like that netherworld thing and its like immamture 18year old guys coming to your door. ringing the door bell, hiding behind the door and just when you think they were playing ding-dong-ditch, they throw your door open and scream then run away. (they are wearing masks too.)

The psychology behind dressing up as something frightening and participating in scary things, is that basically you're 'putting on the shoes' of things that scare you and walking around in them. This process lets you get to know scary things, and it lessens their ability to frighten you.

Basically you're taking the darkness and bringing it to light. By embracing frightening things we make them part of us and we are no longer afraid.

I would suggest that you turn out the lights on Halloween night, climb into your bed, pull the covers up around your chin and sleep through it all. If you don't "get it" then that is OK. Some folks like it. Some don't. Just don't participate in the trick-or-treats and stuff. Go to bed and let it all get done without you. Then you won't have to wonder about it till next year and maybe by then you will understand it. Or not!

Getting scared is fun. You get a bit of an adrenaline rush and that rush is what makes scary things fun.
