The US is hated because of the many thousands that have died or been maimed due to its aggressive foriegn policy in the post world war era. US policies directly or indirectly helped create a lot of wars. Osama Bin Laden is a creation of this cold war policy of the US. Spending billions on humanity may help change this hatred in the world today but before that US needs to change its attitude. All US Aid Packages dropped in Afganistan had this American flag on it. This is percieved as arrogance.
I don't think the Americans really want to be loved by anyone. But their foreign policy is definitely changing for the better now I think. So maybe there will be a change in how the world percieves them in the next few years or so.

As much as I am against the current foreign policy, I feel the need to point out that we do spend billions on humanity.
I personally believe that if we were less agressive about using our military (In some instances, you may read this as "attacking") other countries to make sure things on foreign soil turned out the way our policy makers want them to, that we would be hated less.
Unfortunately, hate can stem from irrationality, and that sort of hate, we have no defense against.

Unfortunately its human nature to be suspisious of even hated if your the big kid on the block no matter how benevolent. Reasons will be found even invented that would demonize the USA. No one hates a country that posses no theat , In conclusion , What people do not understand they fear what they fear they try to distroy

No, but everyone would think that we were a pushover, like giving money to bums. Who would just use it to get drunk or use drugs. What do you think most countries who receive international aid use that money for? Food? Ha. Not quite.

Of course, everyone loves to hate America, everyone wants to come here, use our resources, but, they hate us!
