Just finished the latest Raymond E Feist book Into a Dark Realm and i'm now on the look out for something to read...a new series preferably Fantasy or Sci Fi. Have read all of Feists previous books along with David Eddings and Robert Jordan, any help would be appreciated, thanks. :)

If you haven't read Robert Heinlein, you're missing classics in Sci Fi. I also enjoy Larry Niven and David Brin. Anne McCaffrey writes good sci fi (not fantasy, as some mistakenly believe because of the genetically engineered dragons). As she's approaching 80, her son has begun to collaborate with her and write books in the same themes. If you want to branch away from the Pern (dragon) books, try some of the others such as Crystalsinger, or Decision at Doona, or the Planet Pirate series.

For fantasy, try The Deed of Paksenarrion, by Elizabeth Moon. Her early books were fantasy, but her later books are SF. I've also enjoyed Marion Zimmer Bradley's take on the Arthur legends. If you don't mind reading shorter books with written for young adults (I'm a school librarian, so I read a lot of this stuff), Patricia Wrede's Enchanted Forest books are marvelous, as our Tamora Pierce's fantasy books.

I've listed links to the authors' sites so you can check them out, along with their books, to see if any would appeal to you.

Happy reading! Sci Fi and fantasy are two of my favorite genres.

Have you read Terry Goodkind's Sword of Truth series (a lot of people compare them to the Robert Jordan books), they're fantastic, particularly the early ones (some of the later ones are a bit patchy). Also Stephen King's Dark Tower Series is probably one of the best fantasies out there. The other one I would recommend is Robin Hobb's books (start with the farseer trilogy) if you liked Feist's books you'll like them though they're a little darker in tone in places. L.E Modesitt is another great author who writes in both genres my favourite is 'The Forever Hero'.

OK I will stop now otherwise I will end up writing a list longer than the novel you pick. Oh OK, just one more, take a look at the Deathstalker series by Simon R. Green as well.

well I liked the Ian Irvine view from a mirror series and well of echoes, also try Julian Mays books and I especially love Frank Herberts Dune series. Stephen Donaldsons Thomas covenant novels are great too and he has just started series 3. I also enjoyed the book Revelation space and this opened up into a excellent series by Alistair Reynolds, Try the new Urth series by Gene Wolfe too as its very original. I am about to read the Hyperion series by Dan Simmons. So try any of these

Here is a list of fantasy fiction you might like, since you enjoyed the authors you mentioned:

Trudy Canavan's Magician Trilogy
Jacqueline Carey's Kushiel's Trilogy (it's brilliant)

If you haven't read Lord of the Rings yet, now is the time to catch up on that.

For Sci-Fi - try J.D. Robb's Death series

Have fun

For Sci-fi go with the Ender's Game series by Orson Scott Card, or anything written by Micheal Crighton (Sphere, Prey, Timeline (book), Jurrasic Park (book)) and William Sleator is also pretty good (Singularity...)

Try reading Stephen King's The Dark Tower series - seven books in all, it's my absolute favorite. Not so much horror as he is known for, but very sci-fi and psychological, terror of the heart and mind, so to speak :)

Try the Terry Goodkind sword of truth series starting with Wizard's first rule.
The rest are (in order),
Stone of tears
Blood of the fold
Temple of the winds
Soul of the fire
Faith of the fallen
The pillars of creation
Naked empire
Chainfire
and the just released Phantom
He says that the next in the series is the concluding part and i can't wait.

Terry Brooks' Shannara series' are also pretty good
