how can i speed up a computer with Windows XP professional Version 2002 OS, Intel Celeron Processor, 433Mhz, 64.0MB RAM.
it takes about 15 mins to log in to the YAhoo messenger, long starting up time before it can be ready to use, whenever i click the Internet Explorer Icon, the window takes along time to show up.. im just afraid if i install the printer, scanner and anti virus software, it will even be much slowwer..any suggestions? what harddrive will im going to add for this? the processor? the motherboard or shall i add up more memory to it? i know the internet connection is not a problem ..it's just the way my computer runs..and pls take note that this is a newly acquired computer..and when i scroll the webpage, it seems that the page is so heavy, it doesnt synch with the cursor

I want this computer to run properly so that eventually it will be a user friendly computer for my senior citizen parents to use the MS office because im going to give it to them when i move out

64mb of RAM?!? I'm surprised it EVER gets finished loading XP

That amount of RAM worked for Windows 95, but for XP your *minimum* should be 256mb- any less and you'll be thrashing in virtual memory hell with the hard drive light always on...

Add RAM, everything will move much faster. Once that's done, do the standard spyware/virus scanning but until you increase the memory, it will be horrid.

That computer is a joke, the average RAM today is roughly 4000MbB of RAM not 64! You need an upgrade! You can get a cheap computer better than that I think.

You need more ram. I am 99% sure. You only have 64mb of ram and you need at least 512mb to run fast. Windows XP takes about 200mb already, and you only have 64. Go grab some ram. Your cpu is slow too. It is your cpu and ram that is causing your slowdown.

You need better hardware.
Get AT LEAST 128 MB RAM in there. 256 is good and 512 is better. ! gig and more is the ideal area at this point.

You might want to buy a new motherboard that has at least 800+ Mhz (1.3 Ghz is nice)

64MB of RAM is tiny. Your computer is using hard drive space as Ram soit is crawling. 256MB is the absolute minimum and I would think about 512MB. Also XP Pro is asking alot of your processor

The RAM is the problem. You surely have to expand that!
At least buy +64MB to your computer. That should work.
