i have a windows 98 gateway and i want to reboot it to get the safemode off! i don't want to reboot it to make it like new again!i just want to reboot it so the safemode will go off and yes i have already tried reastarting it and the safe mode was still on after i did that please tell me how to reboot my computer without loosing all my info.!!thnx the most explanatory answer and whatever works the best will get 10 points!

y You can either do a "system restore" to take it back to an earlier time or you can do a "clean boot."

Reboot is the same as restart, which can be done with the 3 finger salute or the restart button next to the start one.
To get to safe mode press the F8 key while it is starting up.

If you reboot it and it still goes into safe mode you probably have other issues that are causing it to not boot correctly.
You are probably going to need to back that needed information off of there and reinstall or upgrade your operating system to get that going like it should.

Go to the Start button at the bottom left hand corner. Find where it says restart or shutdown or something like that. Click on that. There's a window that gives you choices. Choose shutdown. Let it shutdown. If you want to restart it wait a while(more than 30seconds or one minute).

This is easy. While your computer is restarting, press F8 continously, then you will be brought to a menu where you can set safe mode and even normal mode. Select normal mode and you should be just fine.

The only way I know to reboot a computer is to press the small button just under the button,that you press to start your computer.Thanks, I think it will work. Enjoy your day!

after you turn it back on, press F8 and a boot menu should come up, go to start windows normally and press enter,....it should boot normally
