You can pot any colour ball (yellow, green, brown, blue, pink, black) after potting a red; although when there are no longer any red balls left on the table, you must pot the brown ball before the pink ball.

Neither in my case because I am rubbish despite hours of practise! Should be brown first though once all the reds are potted.

Red first then go for the better ball for position
