Before Yahoo, I was a subscriber to MSN e-mail. With this e-mail program , a 'tone' is heard while one is viewing other sites etc, when a new message is received.This serves as an alert that a new message is in the mail 'inbox'.....is this feature available with Yahoo?

If you leave yahoo messenger up, it will alert you when you have new yahoo mail.

Hi yes on yahoo messenger you can enable the alert by opening up your yahoo messenger, then click MESSENGER on the top of your yahoo messenger window then click PREFERENCES then ALERT AND SOUNDS on the right you will see a box with different options,click on I RECIEVE A MESSAGE IN YAHOO MAIL then click on the top in the tick box ENABLE ALERT SOUND then APPLY and OK
