We here in the UK quite often hear about the american Social Security system,can you please tell me how much on a weekly basis in dollars people are paid,and do they have their rent paid like they do here in England.
I think the UK payments are around £56 per week which I think would be around $70,or am I way out??

in Illinois if your on social security income then you get a check once a month. my sister is disabled and she gets around $600. She has to pay her own rent and all her other bills with that. But my friend lost her mother when she was a baby, she's over 30 now and still gets a chech from ssi and its about $2000 a month. I guess it just depends on the situation.

Social security is money put aside by the gov for retirement but from what i hear we might not have any left when most of us get to retire and we have to work for our own rent nobody pays for it. well unless you are rich or married.lol. I think that's right well nobody really knows.

hi i tryed to find this out for an essay once but did not have a lot of luck pre yahoo of course i think it varies from state to state and there are more welfare to work schemes and sometimes i think food stamps that's all i know

i am in the UK so not sure on accuracy
