Whenever a dictator is prosecuted in the European Court of Human Rights, it results in increased coverage of the trial, and exposes Western governments involvement in terrorism, and illegal activities.
Saddam is charged with causing the deaths of 250,000 Marsh Arabs (as retribution for a CIA funded terrorist campaign after the Kuwaiti war), using weapons of mass destruction, and invading a foreign country.
The USA have caused the deaths of 650,000 Iraqis, sold Saddam the Anthrax wmd, and invaded two foreign countries. Will George ever stand trial, of course not.
1 law for the rich and powerful, another for everyone else. That's called DEMOCRACY.

The argument is that Saddam Hussein's crimes were not against the International Community, though many Iranians and Kuwaitis - as well as autonomous Kurds in the north - may disagree with that statement.

The simple answer is that the US thought that an Iraqi-based Saddam trial would be welcomed by Iraqis and would unite them. It hasn't turned out that way...in fact, the trial has become a joke with a mockery being made of the court.

Saddam Hussein's crimes were not against the international community. He is being tried in an Iraqi court for his crimes against Iraqis.

his crimes were against his people,not the international community,and the un,us,and the new govtdecided it would be better for him to be tried under new IRAQI law,and no the U S will not be tried for crimes for invading because we acted according to international law for him not abiding to the U N agreements as he agreed to as a result to let him remain in power after his loss in the first gulf war

Because Iraq and it's citizens would probably feel cheated if they did not have this honor.
