Zurvan,
When I was in undergrad, I did my internship in a lab at a major pharmaceutical company. One of the top 3 in the world.
I worked on an experimental drug, which is now on the market.
The animal research was one of the last steps. Prior to that, the majority of the research was done on paper.
Animal research is NECESSARY. A controlled environment is used to discover how the drug will affect that infinite number of pathways and interactions within the body.
We discovered side reactions that were impossible to duplicate on paper; a living, breathing body was necessary for the research.
What other options would be available?

im in the middle, i dont understand how they can use razor blades to test and see how well they cut and things like this, hair dye all that sh!t should be illegal, im not big on giving animals aids and treating them or giving rats cancer, for some reason i think its inhumane, and want to say if you are that close to finding a cure or a preventative shot/pill do it on your dayumn self.but in reality we need to test these theories some how- i also wonder if the simple rhythm of a heart beat or something different in an animals blood could really be why some things do/dont work and then they turn around do/dont work on people - i have a bigger issue with biology forcing you to cut open a baby pig, worm, frog, or fish to dissect, everything you can see in that animal you can see in that book or a replica of a real one- ( remember the childhood game operation ) if your studying to become a doctor or vet then yes use animals but unnecessary killing is what really bothers me- - makes no sense -
animal testing is not the same as eating an animal i know chickens and cows are treated horribly before being murderd for us to eat but we are eating them were not just injecting them because we have a theory - or want to see if our triple edge razors will really cut hair that low to the skin-or if this make up will last 8 hrs- come on now, there is a difference -

Well when you eat an animal it has been slaughtered. I think hurting and animal and giving it things it has to live with and suffer for just to make money is completely inhumane. There is not a business on earth except a hospital that treats people or animals without financial discrimination worthy of testing there products on living things. Animals deserve to live freely as well as human beings. All animals contribute to our environment in some way and a lot of them are full of love as well.

I think it is pretty amusing when people try to elevate animals to the same levels as humans. Animal research is necessary and should be done in a humane fashion.

ok for some things it might be neccessary to use animals for testing as human lives are more important...BUT
like another guy said the beauty product companies should use humans for their testing. it is a product for the human in the end anyways so use the dang triple blade razor on a mans face to test them out these companies got plenty of money to give another man or two a job so why they abuse these poor animals...JUST FOR MONEY...its cheaper...so sad and so cruel..

Its at least as moral as animal eating, an act which other animals do all the time.

Animals have rights. Any testing should be done humanely.
What I do not support is the other extreme, Peta's beliefs.

NO. I hate it and it should stop. We don't learn anything important anymore from this evil practice.
