Does MSN automatically shut down the webcam when not in use, but even when left on?
My fiance is on night shift, so we chat on msn when he is at home working(we dont live together yet) and when he was ready to head to bed i asked him just to leave the cam on so i could sneak a quick peek at him every now and again but after less than 10 mins it just shuts off itself. Does the PC do this, or msn?.. anyone know if so and why?

It is probably the PC power settings, although it could be his internet connection suspending due to inactivity.
Go to Start, Run, powercfg.cpl
and change the Power Scheme to "Always On".
That aside, your bizarre, needy desire to monitor your boyfriend through the night bodes ill for your relationship.
