1988 Camaro RS 2.8 litre multi port injection. Replaced fuel pump. Car runs and drives but I smell stong odor of gas from engine compartment. Also car tries to die and has died when I come to a stop. Didn't have this problem prior to replacement of pump. Any ideas?

Sounds like a fuel leak under the hood. the only thing I can think of that might be caused by fuel pressure are the O rings on the injectors, or the Schrader valve on the fuel manifold or maybe where the fuel line connects to the fuel manifold.

check the fuel pressure regulator, do this by removing the vacuum line on the top. if there is any fuel coming out replace it.
