I don't know about the mines in India - where the mynah originates.
In the UK, canaries were taken down the mines for that purpose.

No Mynah birds wre not used for that, that would be canaries, as they are very suseptable to air changes.
Mynah birds are called so because of the area they come from and has nothing to do with mines wales or even pot noodles

Canaries were uses many years ago in the UK to determine if non-breathable gas was present in mines, not mynah birds.

No.....not Mynah birds, they used the Canary.
The reason being, that they are song birds, when they stopped singing, that it was more noticeable,.
I doubt if they even had mynah birds in this country in those days.
