Do they have some one translating into an ear piece? Why are they so big?

The ear pieces are in fact usaed for transalations of what is being spoken. Why are they so big?? I have no idea. Ever notice the entire UN needs to be updated a little...all of its styles are stuck in the 50's and 60's.

Truth be told, when it comes to world peace, I think there are more important things than up to date styles!!!

Thanks for the 2 points!!

when you see members of some national delegation in the un, you are only looking at part of the story, some where in the bldg is a whole bunch of people acting as interpreters and scribes, every word that is spoken or written in that place is copied and transmitted to every other country for all kinds of reasons.

Yes, they are listening to translators and the earphones are large because the also cut out any noise that could keep them from hearing the translator.

Yes it's an earpiece for local translators, I guess the size has to do with the quality of the sound cause you DON'T want misinterpretations on those matters!
