RE:
Does one infant formula taste better than the others?
My 5 month old son now refuses to take formula, although he has taken it occasionaly in the past. He was on formula for three days due to breast milk jaundice at about 1 month. He also took it at about 3 months which unfortunately coincided with a stomach virus that led to vomiting for about 12...

My son is currently on the Enfimal Gentle Ease formula a boy does it smell horrible. The only reason he is on that is, because we have WIC. I have found that Baby's Only Organic Soy Formula has a lot better smell and my son seems to like it more the the Gentle Ease formula. The reason that Baby's Only formula is made for only Toddlers is because the company would like you to breastfeed your child breastmilk for the first year. Anyway, here is there website:www.naturesone.com. They have a comparision chart you can look at or take to your doctor. Good luck to you.
About the rice cereal thing, my son hated this stuff too until I made it with just water.

All infant formulas taste basically the same. There are slight variations in taste between cow's milk vs. soy based formulas. The best tasting of all, of coarse, is mother's own milk which is sweet. Purhaps it's not the substance but the vehicle?

I have never tasted formula but I would imagine that they all taste just as awful as they smell. I would think that it is possible that he just hates the taste of formula.
Is there any chance that you would be willing to go back to breastfeeding again? I never heard of a baby who did not love the taste of his mothers milk.
It is unfortunate that you stopped nursing him due to the jaundice. You can continue to nurse babies right thru that, I did it twice. Sometimes hospital personnel are not as dedicated to continuing breast feeding as they should be and that is sad.
If formula is all you can do I would try different kinds. Maybe you will find one that he likes.
I am sorry for both of you that you are having this problem. I am sure it is just as hard on you as it is on him.
If there is any way you could go back to nursing him that would be the ideal thing.
Good Luck

Try a sippie cup (the non-spillproof kind) and mix some rice cereal in with the formula. My youngest hated bottles and after she weaned (almost a year) she only took formula this way. It may not be the taste, but, it may be the consistency and texture.

SINCE IT SEEMS LIKE ITS BOTH FORMULA AND BREAST MILK . I BELIEVE ITS NOT FROM THE MILK/ FORMULA BUT RATHER THE BOTTLE TRY GIVING YOUR SON A CUP. SOME KIDS WILL EAT REAL WELL THEN WON'T EVEN TOUCH IT. ANOTHER THING TO THINK ABOUT IS HE GETTING BABY TEETH? THAT CAN CAUSE THE LACK OF APPETITE ALSO GROWTH SPURT CAN CAUSE THIS. IN THE END CALL YOUR DOCTOR MAYBE EVEN TRY WHOLE MILK BUT I WOULD FIRST CALL THE DOCTOR.

I beleive there are different tastes. I haven't personally tried them, but I had the same situation with my neice. We were told to change her formula and she wouldn't take it, so we had to switch back to the old formula.

I would give it time and not buy every kind of formula. After time your baby will be hungry and will drink his bottle. You might just have a picky baby. I have 2 little ones and they all when throught that phase.
