There are 2 basic problems.
Firstly, what do you call an inhabitant of the USA? An American? That offends the peoples of all the other countries on the continents of North and South America.
Secondly, the population of the USA are not very united. The gap between left and right has never been bigger. The sooner it splits into two countries, the better for everybody.

Yes, just what Twelve Monkeys said above, The United States of North America. It is going to happen whether you like it or not.
So, "People get ready, Jesus is coming to take from the world his own..." Song by Crystal Lewis...
Read the 'fiction' Left Behind series by Tim LaHaye. That is exactly what he the antichrist renamed America.

To what?? The Un-united States of America? Even with all the flaws and idiots running things America is still the Best Country in the World because of its diversity and cultural mix of peoples and beliefs....its a shame that most Americans have forgotten the values and morals that make this country stand out against the rest of the World! We were founded and fought for our rights as humans and now it seems we ignore what our forefathers worked so hard to make !

Yes, because it gets shortened to 'America' all the time which isn't fair to the rest of the continent as they have to stress that they are part of South America in order to assert their seperate identities. The word Americans shouldn't only refer to people from the USA, but all too often it does.

Like corporate re-branding, there is good money to be made.
Something jazzy like Amca or maybe an acronym like USA pronounced "Yousa"
I shall forward my invoice for $4 million to the White House.
