She even bought a house three blocks away from hers for us to live in and she says so she can be close to her grandchildren to help raise them!

It will never change. We have a family friend (Italian) that is in his mid 50's and his mom is STILL like that with him. Oh yea, word of advice. Don't ever get mouthy with the mom, those old Italian women have no problem slapping you across the face if they get insulted. I have seen his mom do it many times to people, lol.

First off how long have you been together? Maybe his momma needs some time. On the other hand if your guy adores his mom so much you will NEVER be his number 1 priority. Dump him now before it is too late......living close so she can help raise your children.......sounds like she wants the mother role and again you will never be able to do anything right. Chances are your guy will always side with his mom...not good. If he really cares more about you he would put mon in her place.

Hang on for the ride, I don't think much will change over the years. She doesn't hate you, she just loves her son and no one will ever be good enough for him. Try to be respectful and bite your tongue and don't expect her to change. She will be great to you if/when you become pregnant and will help you tremendously with the baby.

moms just want the very best for their kids. she just wants to make sure her baby has the best. ask her for her recipe for some of the dishes that your future husband likes and compliment her on how good her cooking is and how nice her home is. she'll come around.
