I think we actually live in a kind of dictatorship, just that it's called democracy. Without this dictatorship, it would all break apart. we need authorities, because we failed to teach certain moral values to certain people, or already kids, and I think there's many of them. Must be because we don't have those values inside of us...we have to have someone who plays police. Now that would be an interesting genetic modification to make....

But lets come back to the mothers of the 16 year olds. And god. It seems you are talking about one of the next unresolvable problems that the world is facing in the present already but also in the future. That fits with the scripture that says that the apocalypse is coming...

Sorry for not giving you better feedback, but I really think the world is going down.

As for the 16-year old. I believe it's gonna be hard, but people usually have a strong will to survive. And finally, as for your last question: No, will and hope is not all we need. we also need food, a warm bed...safety...money...

I see like differrent things when thinking about a 16 year old on the street: I see him dealing with drugs, I see him dependent of someone else in exchange for sex (lets hope its not a she), I see him in the salvation army, or frozen to death, I see police problems, I see dirt...and I see the no-appartment- no job - question....

finally I see only one thing: a little bird trying to fly, that needs to be warned about DRUGS and SEX matters....most of all drugs....that will make its way, and probably back to the nest because it doesn't go otherwise.

But like I say, my primary concern is the Drug problem...I couldn't tell you why, it's just what I feel. Maybe I think about drugs because I think about the coming home day. If your kid comes home with a drug problem, then you're in the ****. WIthout drug problem it goes....drugs, and sex illlnesses...that's it. And safety.

The answer can be summed up with responsibility. Who ever must take responsibility will dictate the rules.

who is it that dictates how people live there lives? Lawmakers and Government (to a degree). example: why do you wear your seat belt? Because somebody sued a car manufacturer and held them "responsible" for another actions (or in this case lack of action).
Yes dictators exist
No God does not tell me what is right and wrong. He killed all first born because of their "dictator's" actions. Innocent firstborn children. No God does not "dictate" what is right or wrong for me.
Parents can't spank their children because of bad people beating their children. Again politicians are being blames and are being held "responsible" for other's actions.
Perhaps will and hope are all that is needed to survive. but I would rather live that just survive.

I get where you're coming from, and I think we all feel this way as teens. However, your getting caught up the societal aspect and looking at the glass half empty. Your purpose is obviously going to be personal.... but as a 24 year old, I've come to the conclusion that the point is to enjoy yourself. If there are things you don't like about yourself you can change. Life isn't only about avoiding pain, it's about working toward enjoyment. Get smart or be passionate about something so you don't have to work a shitty job. Or, be that loner woodsman bullshit you think is cool at this point in your life. Whatever, just do what you want and make sure your enjoying it. No I would not press the button, suffering ain't that bad from time to time. When you die that's it... It'd be easy once that happens, but until then I'll just sit watching the show.... enjoying the little things. Don't be such a ***** and just enjoy yourself... you're on a computer your parents bought you... your educated enough to read, write, form opinions and comment on societal structure... You've got nothing to complain about.

The need to be accepted is overpowering. People do not like change and resistance. Society is the dictation of our living. Our living to one individual is a business deal.
A statement for what our world has evolved into is..."Its what you make of it" Your decisions will always be your choices. No matter how small or big.

The answer to your question is yes. But to calm your anger and fear, remember you've given your system of values to your sixteen year old. If they want t flip burgers or do heavy manual labor for the rest of their lives, turn them loose. If they are going to school but living at home, let them know the house rules and stick to them. Otherwise they are free to come and go as the see fit. Make them realize that if they want to exercise their independence, by all means do so, but be aware - the consequences are theirs also.
