When you're going to put one in, you have to relax. Get into a position where it will be easiest - most people suggest sitting on the toilet with your legs wide apart, or putting one foot on the edge of the bath. Personally, I find the easiest way is to crouch down with my knees wide apart.

Take the tampon in your right hand (assuming you're right handed). Spread the labia with your left hand and gently insert the tampon into the vagina. Push it in gently until the fingers of your right hand are touching the skin. That's the most important part - it has to be far enough in or it will be uncomfortable. If you're having trouble getting it in, try pushing slightly to one side or the other, or slightly rotating the tampon as you push it in. If you find it a bit dry going in, you could try using a bit of vaseline on the tip of the tampon.

Once the fingers of your right hand are touching the skin, use your left hand to push the applicator in all the way, as far as it goes - again, if you feel a bit of resistance try pushing slightly to one side or the other, then withdraw the applicator and the tampon should be in place.

If the tampon is in the right place, you won't be able to feel it inside you at all. It's difficult to get the hang of at first, but just keep trying, I promise you it's worth it!!! No more messy pads, no more gushing of blood when you sneeze or move position.......tampons are definitely the way to go!!! Good luck!

If you are a virgin I would not recommend using tampons. The light tampon isn't going to do you any good anyway. You sound like you might be anemic(low iron count). This is really serious and you need to see your doctor about the anemia.

When I was this age I had the same problem with my period being really heavy. If your period is this bad us get yourself some overnight pads. They will probably last longer then the regular super pads do.

If you still want to know how to insert a tampon do a google search on instructions on how to insert a tampon.

You may also try eating food that is high in iron and see if this helps slow down your cycle. Your doctor may put you on birth concrol pills which can lighten up your period.

The easiest way to insert a tampon comfortably is to put one of your legs up on the toilet or bathtub and to insert the tampon at a slight angle. It should slide right in...it might take you a couple of tries to get it just right and comfortable. There also should be a direction pamplet in the box of tampons..if not you could go to the store and buy a new box and look at those. Also because you are bleeding so heavily and changing pads so often you should go to the doctor. Its not normal to bleed that heavy. Good luck

Some good tampons to start off with is Tampax Pearl or platex beyond somthing with a plastic applicator. The paper ones botherme when i first tried it with that. And snice you seem to have a very heavy period u should use super or super plus snice u dnt want it to leak. And their are directions on the box but snice she left sum ehind there might not be a box so just buy some to try it. If you like it better then pads thats good if not or you just can seem to get it keep trying. It took me a while to get it right.
