because i want to get a new phone but its not cingualr, and my friends tell me that the sim card does work on every phone but they tend to make stuff up so can some one please tell me if its true or not

No. you can't, cingular sim cards only work with cingular phones, I know because I tried it before and was told by company reps .

Sim card would work for similar phone, I think Cingular is GSM, so it would work on T-Mobile which uses GSM phones. Verizon is CDMA and Nextel is IDEN so wouldn't work on those phones.
