"I Said, 'I Love You,'...but I Lied" -- It doesn't get better than that. The way it is haunting and building and revealing is the best. The music is just beautiful and the lyrics are pretty, and you can see why they call him "The Voice."
With some of the older classic songs, his remakes are excellent, and he sings them way better than some of the originals. That caused some envious people to say all he could do is copy other people's songs, which of course was wrong. He did them better and he revived the genre, bringing all those songs and all those artists back for a while.
He has his own songs too, and that one song he got sued over, was it "Love is a Wonderful thing" ?, has nothing to do with that other sixties song other than the black female backup singers screaming/chanting a couple words in sixties style and sounding like girls from the sixties. Remaking other songs and a couple of words in the same style doesn't mean he "stole" someone else's song as the other artist claimed.. That was a bum rap. The other artist should have thanked him for the revival.
I agree he has some stuff that might make a few people vomit, but overall his stuff is really very good. He is a great musician and a fantastic singer, for sure.

Loved his rendition of "When A Man Loves A Woman"
from the "Time, Love & Tenderness" album
also "O Holy Night" ........from his Christmas album
"This Is The Time".....
"To Love Somebody" from the "Timeless" album...
"Soul Of My Soul" ... from "The One Thing " album
(Read somewhere that he wrote that one for his children...)
"How Am I Supposed To Live Without You", " When I'm Back
On My Feet Again" and "Georgia On My Mind" .....all from the
"Soul Provider" album............. but, my very FAVORITE is a
duet he did with Placido Domingo....... "Ave Maria" ...........
("This Is The Time" album)........ Awesome.
