sometimes when things are close to home they actually make the issue even more intense. I would HOPE that it makes him more understanding. But there isn't any way to be sure.

i think that that does not make him more understanding towards the issue, just more tolerant, like now he can't be against it because he wouldn't want his daughter to hate him.
