First of all, Just try to understand their situation.
Read all you can on the subject. You can pull it up on line, I have Post Polio Syndrom . I've found out a lot about my condition on line by only typing- Post Polio Syndrom into the search bar and go.
Do what ever you can to help them but understand them too.

OCD is an anxiety disorder. It's most commonly characterized by a subject's obsessive (repetitive, distressing, intrusive) thoughts and related compulsions (tasks or rituals) which attempt to neutralize the obsessions.

To be diagnosed with OCD, one must have obsessions or compulsions alone, or obsessions and compulsions:

1 Recurrent and persistent thoughts, impulses, or images that are experienced, at some time during the disturbance, as intrusive and inappropriate and that cause marked anxiety or distress.
2 The thoughts, impulses, or images are not simply excessive worries about real-life problems.
3 The person attempts to ignore or suppress such thoughts, impulses, or images, or to neutralize them with some other thought or action.
4 The person recognizes that the obsessional thoughts, impulses, or images are a product of his or her own mind.

I stayed in a relationship with an OCD sufferer for 7 years simply to protect my baby boy but he and I suffered the most in doing so. We are out now and life is getting back to being normal other than her using the Courts to try and control us in any way she can. Seriously it got to the stage where she was putting post-it notes with DON'T USE on the toilets and showers every Sunday after they were cleaned as she wanted them to stay clean for the whole day! We weren't allowed to watch TV, laugh, have fun, play in the house, run, whistle, make any form of constructive comments, not allowed to hang my clothes in the same cupboard as hers, all her whites had to be hung on one row and colours on another row I had to use a different colour pillow case as she didn't want to get man germs on her pillow. She was terrified of Pigeons, putting her head under water or getting her hair wet. Her whole family were OCD, violent and delusional, imaginary babies even gave them names, my wife had to have a girl and cried the whole weekend when she found out she was having a boy, imaginary affairs even punched me in the eye when I was performing first aid on our son after she violently shook him because he wouldn't follow her plan. She even had an XL spreadsheet on everything she had ever purchased another on every guy she had slept with and only kissed before we married - I can go on and on but it is not worth the effort! If you are in such a relationship GET OUT NOW as their obsessions will make them hate you for little things which they can't forgive you for and build up to such a degree that they will do something stupid!

On a Not-so-serious note: if they like to clean, send them to my house.

On a serious note: You can try GOOGLE and search medical websites for info. I think it would be difficult to live with OCD. Howie Mandel has it.
