yes as eddyj90 said you can't change inbuilt software u can istall (i mean download games all other through gprs and throug internet if the phone is 3g is better for net i mean EDGE phone.) extra software.....i think u r problem is some phones do not support mpeg4...i am also to know about that....one thing to say --sonyericsson will give a software cd it supports directly DISC TO PC. it is enough to download many things from PC.

You cannot change the actually default software of Sony Ericson, if thats what you mean. You can change themes and make your own, add games and apps, and the such, but the software is already really bugged. I have the W600i and I don't buy any Apps, and barely any games. The software is just too fragile.

Many SE phones are not symbian like Nokia 6630,6680 but they run on Java and there are many java softwares available for chatting , mail, calendar etc...and there are even more 3D java games which are pretty cool..try sites like getjar.com , midlet.org , dotsis.com , segoodies.com
