Have you ever been to an endocrineologist? If your periods aren't normal, I'm surprised the Dr. hasn't referred you. Putting you on a pill is like putting a band-aid over a bullet wound-- you cover up the problem but you don't cure it or get to the bottom of it. It's best to rule out any hormonal imbalance, or other biological basis that could be causing the "depression" and/or mood swings before deeming it psychological. I agree with the others, that you should seek professional advice, but do some investigating, know your facts, and be assertive. If your Dr. doesn't take your concerns serious enough, go to a different Dr., until you find one who does. It can be tough finding a practitioner who does more than write out a prescription, but you deserve good, quality care, and if you have to pull a few weeds before finding someone who understands you and take steps to get to the bottom of things, it's well worth it. Good Luck.

I use Microgynon 30 and also suffer from depression, to be honest hun i would say that it's the depression but i also realise that everybody reacts differently to things. Speak to your GP and maybe you could ask for a referral to speak with a counsellor about everything, if you still feel no differently then maybe you could look into the pill you're taking. Good Luck and hang on in there, it does get better x

First off, if your dr told you to go off the pill to get an accurate diagnosis, then you need to do it. If you are still taking the pill, you won't know if it is causing the mood swings or not. It could very well just be hormonal, or it could be depression. If you come off the pill and it stops, then your dr will change you to a different pill. If you come off the pill and you continue to have mood swings, then they will more than likely put you back on it and also give you options for mood stabilizer drugs or antidepressants.

Stick with it until the first 3 months are up, if it is a side-effect it'll probably settle down. The pill can cause PMS and mood swings, but side-effects usually sort themselves out within a few cycles. If you go to your doctor, they'll probably recommend that you carry on for a couple more months. And it's possible that it wasn't a side-effect at all, but just a bad mood! Hope you cheer up soon.

I feel for you, but it really needs an expert who knows your medical history to make that sort of a diagnosis. You need to see your GP.
Pills can act on individual women differently, and what is right for your frinds may not be good for you.

Please, please talk to your doctor about this. He/she is the only person who knows your full medical history. Don't listen to strangers on the internet about such an important part of your health. If you follow a strangers advice, you could make matters worse for yourself. Please look after yourself and discuss things with your doctor. From someone who cares.
