UK or America?

who do you think would win in a war (not that it will ever happen because blair and bush are in love) people will proberly think usa but look at your size, if we were the same size america wouldnt stand a chance, i still think uk will win even with the size difference, but what do you think???

Vietnam was about 35-40 years ago... fighting has changed drastically since then. How about we look back to World War II if we're going to look in the past, the US saved Britain not to mention many different countries by becoming involved. If the US hadn't stepped in (or if Japan was smart enough not to bomb Pearl Harbor) half of Europe would be under German and Italian control. Or even farther, Revolutionary War, remember this? This question has already been answered back when Britain was a super power and a bunch of upstart American's won their freedom. Now a little closer to the present....Persian Gulf war, who was it that saved the Kuwaitis? It wasn't the British.

If the US felt like disobeying every single arms treaty they could wipe Britain off the map in a matter of days. All the US would have to do is drop more nuclear bombs and the entire UK would be destroyed, however the US refuses to do this. If both sides were to deploy their entire armed forces (in Iraq currently are Marines and a few army personnel) the US would destroy Britain in a head to head battle with superiority in the Navy, Air Force, Army, Marines... hell the Coast Guard is more powerful than the UK's Air Force. Should Bush ever get a brain and decide to send in larger numbers of troops (like all the ex-generals have been saying) Iraq would be over MUCH sooner.

I love Britain, my mom was born and raised in Scotland, however I know that the US would completely destroy them should it ever come to war between the countries.

Not a good idea. USA have thousands of service personnel stationed in UK already. All they need do is open their barracks gates and charge out.

Weight of numbers and fire power tells me that the USA would win a war against UK.

Curiously, when the British surrendered to the Americans at the end of the War of Independence [Revolution] there were still 10,000 British troops in New York. We needn't have bothered.

Well America because they have 13 Aircraft carriers, not to mention they dominate the air and sea. So the U.K. wouldn't stand a chance. Not to mention the U.S. has Canada to back them up if they needed. The U.K. is like literally 1/50th the size of the U.S. // I would rather be there ally - not there enemy. Plus if the U.K. tried to invade the U.S. they wouldn't stand a chance that way either - because practically every American household has at least 1 if not 2 or 3 guns. Just my opinion!

As a brit it upsets me to have to say that the USA would win. They might be mainly untrained numpties in the ranks of their armed forces but there are, at last count, about a gazillion more of them than us. They could fit all the UKs combined armed forces onto a couple of their aircraft carriers.

You also have to remember that even when they are on our side they still kill more of us than the enemy do. We wouldn't stand a chance.

First of all, democracies do not go to war against other democracies. I love the English but they are a small country and are not as productive as the US. England would loose the war and probably Canada in the treaty.

Well, the UK is part of Europe. Europe has a history of appeasement. Europeans also have a very high opinion of themselves, so I think they might fall prey to overconfidence. So, I'm actually gonna take the side of MY country, which, I know, I know, is not the true (liberal) definition of patriotism.

I'm an American. I love my country and all that it stands for. I am very proud of our military. It is one of the best in the world.

I can't answer your question because I can't imagine this ever happening. But, I can say that I am aware of your military system, and consider it to also be one of the best. I have met many of your military representatives through the years and have met none prouder, more developed and more loyal to their country than yours. God's speed to anyone in your path.

As an ex soldier from the uk,i have taken part in many training excersises in the states with the yanks.We kicked the **** out of them at everything,march and shoot,drill,assault course the list goes on!The problem with and always has been that they have no discipline.Oh and we beat the **** out of them one night in a(free for all) outside one of THEIR nightclubs on THEIR camp in washington state.Look at their stats in the last wars?they would end up calling in airsrikes on their own troops(blue on blue)hope this answers your question?
