If the folders you want to protect are website folders then you need to create two files .htaccess and .htpasswd
Your hosting company should offer you file protection, but if not try http://www.ssi-developer.net/htaccess/htaccess_protection_simple.shtml
If it is a folder on your PC then try tucows http://www.tucows.com to see if there is any shareware suitable as you will need a separate programme to do this or for $40 go to http://www.folder-password-expert.com/.

Are you speaking some community shared folder? Or do you want to guard the folder from different clientele on the computer? in case you do, then each man or woman that signs and indicators on could have diverse permissions for the information the create. in case you want a folder with a password that would not rely on NTFS secure practices, there's a artwork around. superb click the place you want the hot folder and choose NEW > COMPRESSED (ZIPPED) FOLDER. a clean ZIP folder would be created. place the information you want to password guard interior the ZIP folder. Open the ZIP folder and choose record > upload a password. type the password and ensure. The information would be seen to every person that opens the folder. yet whilst they open a record, they are going to be triggered for a password. this could be a thank you to try this in XP without third occasion application.
