If I put one in, will it just automatically play if it can?

The front of one of the cd roms should have DVD on it somewhere... If not, then it won't.

You would need a DVD-ROM drive or a DVD-RW installed and a media player capable to play DVD's.

On my previous computer, I had exactly the same question as you. So I placed a DVD in the drive. Nothing happened! Give that a try.

Yes you have have to have a drive that can play DVDs, but you also have to have a DVD decoder installed on the computer.

The front of the drawer where you put the disk will say DVD. Or go to start accessories system information/hardware

Just pop one in. If you don't have DVD players installed on your computer, open your media player (if you have it) and click on "now playing". If your PC can run DVDs, it'll show up in that menu.

you put a dvd movie in the drive if it play then you know if it dont then its not capable of playing DVDs
