How old are you? As a 33 year old mother and 7th & 8th grade teacher, I care a lot about the well-being of young adults. Some girls are 14 very mature. Some aren't. I believe "group" dating is best in middle school. Some of my best memories are of things I did with my classmates in middle and high school. If you are a freshman, you probably are ready to date.

You need to ask your parents for little chances to prove yourself. Start by asking if your date can come over and watch a movie. Take baby steps. When that goes well ask if he can come to supper. THEN ask to go to a game or movie and BE HOME ON TIME. Be willing to talk to your mom and dad about you did. (You don't have to include that you held hands or wanted to kiss him. But if your parents ask, it may be a great open window to a trusting relationship with mom and dad. Oh yeah, this relationship thing may be easier on you and dad if you talk to mom. Daddys don't like any part of their little girls dating because they were once boys and they know how boys think...trust me on this one.)

As a parent, I would rather give my permission to date than have my child go behind my back and do it anyway, which is what happens 98% of the time. You need to take into account how old you are and how old the boy is that you want to date. After 21, age doesn't matter that much, but there is a huge difference in seniors and freshmen! Little things like curfew could make your life a nightmare and you don't want to start highschool career fighting with your parents!

Good luck and be careful. Us girls are always a little too trusting. Stand on your values!

It's really hard to say because don;t know you're age. From being a parent now and understanding my mother when she would state that i couldn't have a boyfriend until i got 16 i was ok with that because she will let me have friends and of course i still had boyfriend but she new them as guy friends. I would say that 15 is an except able age to start dating but if u r anything like me then your going to date who and when u want IF u want u, feel me. Good luck. But i think u should not bug them about it and just show them that your responsible enough to date, don't bug them about it, do what they ask of u without back talk, and keep your grades up of course because if anyone or anything distracting u from being all u can be and can u blame them. That's what there here for to make sure that u get everything u need and want but to make u out of something very valuable. So just understand where there coming from and if u can play you're cards right, like me you'll be able to have boyfriends before 16 because i did and my mother stressed "Wait until u turn 16" but once showed good things out of me she thought that i was mature enough. Good luck.

Do you believe that you are ready to date? Show your maturity level. Do you accept the responsibilities of maturity: Regular school attendance, passing grades, Neat and tidy room at home, help with household chores, listen to their advice, participate in family activities. Then start off by asking your parents if you can bring your friend with you on a family outing. On the outing stay with your family don't wander off. There will be time for that later. Just include your friend with your family until they begin to accept him/her. after this happens ask to go on a group date with school, church, or community organizations. Talk to your parents telling them what you did. You growing independent of them is scary for them. Include them so they can feel confident that you are mature enough to deal with dating. Remember, you are lucky that they care for your safety and well being. If you do these few things and show the patience of maturity your parents will recognize this and you will be dating. Just remember to give them lots of love and hugs. They are thinking of you.

Most parents have an idea of what age is acceptable and no matter what you say they are not going to budge. But you could start with asking them if you can go on a group outing. after a few of them and you follow all the rules, be home on time and be respectful to your parents they may let you go out on a single date.

The million dollar question !!

its hard for them as well as it shows that you are growing up.

Always harder if your female Dads always seam to want sons to go for it as such but want there Daughters to wait till they are about 60,

All you can do is try and show them that you are ready by shoeing control of yourself maybe the first few times make sure they are close and that they know where you are, if they set a time to in by be in by then.

Show them you can be trusted and that you need some Freedom to make your life as well

Try starting off with group dates with a couple of your friends together with their b/f's, and just tell your parents you're going out with friends........ pick a venue where you're least likely to get in trouble (e.g. Mall, Bowling Alley, McDonald's, etc) and stay out of trouble.
If your parents give you a time you have to be home by, ensure you get home before that time, and don't get caught outside the house kissing the guy.
