I would have to say Christmas Eve in Sarajevo, by Trans Siberian Orchestra is my absolute favorite. If you have ever seen their concert, it is awesome. The whole first set is a story with short narrations between the songs, and they play music in may genres. I would have too say that their concert was the best I have ever seen of any kind. I also like most of the music by Mannheim Steamroller, but TSO is more moving. I also like "The Christmas Shoes", by NewSong and "So this is Christmas", and "Do They Know it's Christmas?", which have been done by many people/groups. I think these songs express the true meaning of Christmas, the love and care we need to show others, especially those less fortunate than ourselves. Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer, by Emo and Patsy is just a fun song. On the other hand, I can't stand when someone takes one of the classic Christmas songs and butchers it.

I like her more as a songwriter (with Gerry Goffin) than for her own albums, most of which were kinda snoozy, samey-sounding adult contemporary records that have largely gone in and out of print since the 70's (except "Tapestry") But their 60's songs were great: 1. Wasn't Born to Follow - The Byrds 2. Porpoise Song - The Monkees 3. You Make Me Feel Like a Natural Woman - Aretha Franklin 4. Don't Bring Me Down - The Animals 5. Goin' Back - Dusty Springfield (also the Byrds) 6. Up On the Roof - The Drifters 7. Chains - The Beatles (also, the Cookies) 8. Some Kind of Wonderful - The Drifters (also Grand Funk Railroad) 9. Keep Your Hands Off My Baby - Little Eva 10. Pleasant Valley Sunday - The Monkees If we need to stick to just the songs she sang herself, then the first three songs on "Tapestry" are winners, and the only three songs of hers I play anymore. Maybe "It's Too Late", which is as good a pop song about divorce as any from the early 70's.
