Okay so we were having some really rough sex and he was on top getting at me. We were going for a long time and then he hit something inside of me and It was a very sharp pain and we had to stop. I felt it in the left side of my abdomen and It was still sore the next day. Am I okay?

You could have done any number of things. The best thing for easing your mind would be to visit a gynocologist and explain that you where having sex and experienced a pain and now feel sore.

I'm sorry I cannot be of more help, but I don't really know what "getting at me" means...were you having vaginal sex? He may have bumped your cervix particularily hard and "bruised" it. You may (this will sound gross, but it does happen) have had some hardened stool in your rectum that got "hit" through the wall of your vagina (woman who have this expereince a sharp pain and soreness because it would be kind of like hitting a limb against a table and bruising it, I don't know if I explained it right sorry). As someone else said, you may have pulled a muscle, or had a cramp...No one can tell you except a doctor.

Hitting the cervix doesn't normally hurt (I've been told it's kind of fun to feel it bumping around during vigorous sex with deep penetration, and I always enjoy it from my perspective as the guy doing the bumping). More likely he hit (or knocked some part of you into) an ovary. They're much more sensitive to impact, similar to a man's testicles -- you might point this out to him, and hope that the sympathy for your condition overrides his inevitable feeling of studliness at being able to whack things that far inside you. :-)

The ovaries are normally fairly well isolated from intercourse, but we've occasionally -- usually due to a freak combination of strange position and, uh, enthusiasm -- bumped into one. My wife has a very high tolerance for pain, but when we have done this she needs to at least take a break for a few minutes.

Have you ever experienced "mittelschmertz" -- a sudden, sometimes sharp but usually fairly mild twinge about two weeks before your period? Some women feel this; it occurs when the ovary releases an egg. If you have, and if the injury you suffered recently was in or about the same place, then it's most likely an ovary that got bumped. They CAN stay a little sore the next day. If it's still sore on the third day, get yourself looked at.

Best of luck!

First of all many things could happen with rough sex I don't know how old you are but.... you could have a torn cervix, your uterus may have already been tilted and struck a muscle, or you may have a cyst and didn't know about it being on the side. You have ovaries on each side cyst can be there or it may be time for your period and your swollen where the egg develops . If it keeps hurting I would go see a GYN.

He has probably hit the opening of your uterus called the cervix. As long as there is no bleeding and the pain goes away within a few days you should be ok. Call your doc for fever or funky discharge or other signs of infection.

if it was a sharp pain, that sounds like it tried to tear at your vaginal wall. i would not worry too much if there is minimal bleeding and the pain only lasts a day or two.

He could have just hit your cervix and bruised it a little. If you've bled a little, then that's probably it.
