and is this just another way of justifying p0rn?

I write erotic fiction and believe firmly that its just another way of exploring ourselves within safe boundries.

Just to add that my writing is aimed mostly at women, although men can by all means read it.I consider it a huge compliment if it has an effect on my readers.

Mostly it has been aimed at men. But recently authors have started to wake up and realize that women actually do want to read erotic fiction. Look at hen nights, it takes a brave man to enter that environment. I think in general women are becoming more like men, they are smoking more, drinking more, swearing and fighting. I dont think women though are quite into porn, but they like titilation.

There is erotic fiction written for both men and women, and erotic fiction written just for men or just for women. More erotic fiction is written *for* men to help them seduce women - than as seduction aids for women to seduce men. There seems to be more erotic fiction for gay women than for gay men. More women are known for writing erotic fiction - but some are really men.
Then there are different levels of erotic fiction - from soft to hard, which have very different reader profiles, but not necessarily masculine or feminine.
Erotic fiction can also be written to be almost completely subliminal, using almost nothing that could be considered p0rn0graphic - or maybe I'm thinking of aphrodisiac fiction . ; .

I believe that it is directed more at women than at men because women are able, moreso than men, to use their imagination when they're engaging in this type of activity. Men are more visual and therefore need more stimuli in this arena. I do believe that it is another was of expressing yourself. I like erotic fiction! People can't always tell what you're reading, but they CAN see dirty pictures!! Hehehe!

Hi i love reading erotic fiction and i think it is for anybody who wants to read it. I think it is a safe way to explore ourselves and see what our boundaries are. I think more men and women read it though but it is up to the individual

I think it depends on the reader and the writer. I like some erotic fiction written by men.

It's directed more at women, though some men do read it.

I think erotic fiction - along with porn - are both fine. It just doesn't bother me...

i think that erotic fiction definately appeals to the female of the species as they tend to have the better imagination. Men prefer the visual aspect of pornography, however, it is much easier for a female to transport herself into that situation when there isn't a picture there already.

I have a lot of brothers, and they have friends...the consensus seems to be, guys go more for pictures/movies, women for fiction/stories.
Pick up any woman's romance novel these days...they're pretty graphic. Anais Nin has nothing on some of these ladies!

IMO... women.
We, women tend to rely heavily on imagination which explains the rapid sales of Mills & Boon type romance books, whereas the men are more easily stimulated via visually which of course is great news for the porn industry, lol=P
Oh, best of luck to your foray into the genre;)
