The best thing to do is have it checked out by a doctor.

Could be anything from a pulled muscle to a pinched nerve to a kidney stone. Hope you feel better soon.

I have the same on my right side. However, I have osteoporosis. It's referred to as, the 'silent killer' Because there is no warning. Thus I have spinal compression fractures, and inverted discs.
Before I consider such, I'd ask your age, and do you smoke?
Stretching, heat, and ice is recommended. But again, the ice will make it feel so good that you could hurt yourself without realizing it. With all that said....
Your BEST source is your DOCTOR!

call your doctor, or a health care professional immediately. Or just get a ride to the ER

Never play with pain when you don't know whats causing it. You may have suffered trauma to the back, or you may be having internal problems that you can't figure out on your own.

Go get it looked at right away. Don't wait. Go now.

Sounds like you might have pinched your nerves in your sides. Call a doctor to the house or get someone to help you to the hospital. You might need a muscle relaxant to ease the pain.

Perhaps it's your left kidney. Are you having a burning in your urine? If it is a kidney, you're going to need an antibiotic as well as a dye like Azo. The best thing is to go to a doctor. Check it out.

Could be a number of things. You could've slept funny and gotten your spine and ribs out of alignment. A chiropractor could probably help.
