she went into the hospitol with bruised and swollen feet. the doctors at first (of course) thought she was abused. but tested for allergies, diabetes and other things. on day 2 they rulled out abuse because while in their care her arms and legs began to swell and bruise and now on day 3 her neck and face. they ruled out allergies and diabetes.
they thought it could be HSP...but have ruled that out as well. she seems to be in so much pain and they keep taking blood (which hurts her) and taking different test after different test. they can not find anything wrong. except that she is bruising and swelling in front of their eyes.
please if you have heard or seen anything like this before explain.
her circulation seems fine.....it's a mystery right now.
leaving the family feeling very helpless.
she has a twin brother who is healthy. he can not go to the hospitol to be with her due to it being rsv season. both babies obviously miss the other.
please help.

I am 20 years old and 3 years ago i had HSP...i had the same symptoms...i couldnt walk cause my legs were sore with the lil bruise like things all over my body...they drew blood like every 2 hours...they gave me an antibiotic and also gave me some steroids to make the bruise like things go away....they (the bruise like things were inflamed blood vessels that rose...making them look like bruises...then the ones on my stomach ruptured causing me to bleed inside so they had to stick a tube up my nose and down my throat and into my stomach to suck out the blood...was she sick anytime before this happend? because before they ruled out mine being HSP, i had a sore throat and my momma gave me some medicine which made it go away so i didnt worry about it anymore and then they said that it just layed back there and got worse and brought on the HSP...so if i were you, i would ask them to check again becuase it sounds exactly like what i had. i forgot to add that the doctors told me that HSP mainly happens in small babies and older people but ofcourse i had to be the teen to get it!

Endocarditis may bes suspected, but not without fever. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Endocarditis

symptoms:
Atrial septal defect (i.e., hole in the wall between the upper chambers of the heart)
Prior endocarditis
Prosthetic heart valve
Surgical shunt from aorta to pulmonary artery
Ventricle defect

An abnormal tendency to bleed may be due to hereditary bleeding disorders, certain prescription medications, diseases of the blood such as leukemia, and diseases that increase the fragility of blood vessels. If there are large areas of bruising or bruises develop very easily, this may herald a problem. Other causes that should be ruled out include liver disease, alcoholism, drug addiction, and acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS). Bruising that occurs around the navel may indicate dangerous internal bleeding; bruising behind the ear, called Battle's sign, may be due to a skull fracture; and raised bruises may point to autoimmune disease.

I did a search on the net and found that there is a rare bleeding disorder called "Thrombocytopenia" which is a disorder stemming from low platelets that can cause spontaeous bruising and swelling. Have the doctors tested her for that? I truly hope that they find the answer and the cure soon so that she can go home, I will pray for her!!! Please keep us posted!!

Try contacting a homeapathic doctor and see if they can help you. I know that when I used to get bruises really easy and would take vitamin c and it seemed to help me. I'm sorry that I can't help you more then that. I wish you and your family all the best.
