Doc Holiday was an ailing man ,Bonney (aka) Billy the Kid was a young man brought up in a violent world who was used to liviing with his life under threat ,he also had a sort of celebrity status ,I think Billy the Kid would come out on top in that little duel

During a Gun Fight speed is not the most important assest. Making the first shot count is. Cool nerves are a must. The other person is trying to kill you. Will definately get your blood pressure up. Doc knew that he was going to die as he was suffering from consumption. He didnt care. Billy was just mentally deranged. Doc Holliday would have won had they ever squared up against each other and slapped leather.

Billy Bonney used a pathetic .41 pin fire Doc Holliday proffered a scatter gun. Old west ammo being what it was, opponents spent a lot of time popping away at each other with neither gun going off. If the ammo was good I'd have to side with the man with the shotgun. the .41 had one slug. A shotgun with double-ought buck would have 9 .36 caliber round balls airborne.

If it was high noon duel, and no one had the sun to his advantage, Doc Holliday simply because he was a trained lawman while Billy the Kid was a hot headed kill on impulse gunslinger. In a face to face duel, it just wasn't Billy the Kids style. He prefered to shoot and ask questions later while Doc Holiday was ask questions first then shot.
