I think should always open.Yes I agree that he going through a bad patch at the moment but I think he will best utilized at the top of the order.He is a very attacking kind of batsman who is capable of destroying the confidence of the opposition bowlers right at the start of the innings and no matter how great a bowler is once you get smacked around in your first couple of overs then it then it becomes very difficult to come back.Besides, now that Sachin is quite reluctant to take risks during the powerplays, you need someone like Sehwag who can make use of those powerplays.

the best opening couple are tendulkar and sehwag. They get early runs in the starting which will be useful even in the 40th over if the team breaks down.

Shewag will open in one dayers but he has to play well because Gambhir is playing very well in domestics.
