i bought my car at plateau motors, i have made my payments on time, the other day, iwent to pay my car payment, and found out that they had sold to another company,but they did not give me any notice at all. they have written wrong dates on my receipts in the past, and i had to get legal action against them to fix it,because i have all my receipts. is this legal?

The dealership is the private property of a person or corporation. It has assets (things of value) and liabilities (things it owes) The money you owe the dealership is an asset. (It is something of value). The dealer can sell that asset (the note on your car, to another company, or they can sell the entire dealership to another person or company.

Dealerships are purchased and sold all the time. As long as the new owner(s) meet the requirements for licensing in the state in which the dealership is located, the sale is totally legal!

Why would you thing that they have any obligation to tell you that they were selling? Businesses are sold every day. The customers of the business have no say in the sale. The only thing they can do is if they do not like the new management is to deal elsewhere.

In michigan , yes, it is legal

cal the state automotive bureau to see what your rights are. and make complaints
