my friends ipod is weird, i plugged it into my computer, and something came up on my itunes that said the software was out of date, so i updated it and installed it, and now there is a picture of like...something being plugged into an outlet on the ipod, and it wont go away, i re-set the ipod, and it comes back, and i plug it into the computer and it still wont go away, so what is wrong with it!?

You need to do a flash restart. If you have an external charger, then you need to flash it, by simply plugging it in.
If you don't have one, just restart your computer and plug your iPod in.

turn it on, let the battery drain till it shuts off, then charge it using a charger not connected to you computer till the battery is full, it should be fine

maybe its battery is not charged and it says "please plug me into a computer!", plug it into your pc for about 15 minutes and see wheather the picture goes away or not.
