I don't know where you are from... it differs from place to place. But in BC there is legal aid that can either help you by taking your case or advise where to look. I have heard of lawyers that take payments... My ex-husband's lawyer did when he divorced me.

Look in the phone book under Legal Aid. There are lawyers who will give you a free one hour consultation as to what to do. If they can't take payments after that first hour, they'll tell you what they charge and how to get them the money. You see, what your husband has is also yours. Some attorneys will wait to be paid until the divorce and property settlement is final. Go get a free consultation and find out.

1) Do not accept your husband back after he has cheated on you. He will never respect you and will never change.

2) Call the local family services office and get their advice.

3) Ask around and see if anyone knows of a good lawyer, then call the office and make an appointment with him. The first 15 minutes to 1/2 hour are usually free. During that time explain the circumstances to him and ask if you could make payments.

The ones I talked to before deciding on one usually wanted a $4-500 retainer and then just billed me the rest.
